Questions

What producers ask us about the code, the e-label and pricing.

The code

What happens to my codes if I stop paying?

They keep working. Every code keeps pointing to the last page you published. Cancelling only stops you from adding new products.

Do I need a GTIN?

Yes. The GTIN is the number under your barcode, and the code is built on it: that’s how a checkout knows which product it is. Already have barcodes? Then you have GTINs. No barcode yet? Your national GS1 organisation gives you a range of numbers for a yearly fee that differs per country. Most shops ask for one before they stock you anyway.

Does it work at the checkout?

Yes, at tills with a 2D scanner: the code carries your GTIN as a GS1 Digital Link. Keep your EAN-13 on the pack for tills that can’t read 2D codes yet.

Do I need a new code for every batch?

No. One code per product works. Add the lot number to the code only if you want to recall one batch without touching the others. Each batch then gets its own code, made for you.

Can I change the label after printing?

Yes. The code points to Backlabel, and the page behind it always shows your latest version. Nothing to reprint.

The e-label

Does the e-label follow the EU wine rules?

The e-label page shows ingredients and nutrition, with no advertising and no tracking. Headings, nutrition terms and the ingredients from our list appear in the shopper’s language; ingredients you add yourself appear as you write them in each language. You stay responsible for the values you enter.

Which languages does the e-label speak?

English, Dutch, French, German, Italian and Spanish. Headings and nutrition terms use the official EU wording, and the ingredients from our list are translated for you. Ingredients you add yourself, you write in each language you choose.

Does the shopper need an app?

No. The phone’s camera opens the page. It loads fast and sets no cookies.
