GS1 QR code generator
Make a QR code with GS1 Digital Link: phones open your website, and checkout scanners read your barcode number from the same code. Free, no signup.
The link in the code
https://www.example.com/01/09506000134352
The till reads GTIN 09506000134352.
29 × 29 modules. For checkout scanners, print it at least 11.5 mm wide; GS1’s target is 14.4 mm. Leave a white margin of 4 modules on every side.
Your website has to answer this address and send the shopper to the right page. Until it does, scanning the code opens an error page.
Keep your EAN-13 barcode on the pack too: not every till reads 2D codes yet.
What’s in the code
Your domain, then 01 with your GTIN in 14 digits, and optionally 10 with a lot number. That pattern is GS1 Digital Link. A phone opens it as a web address; a checkout with a 2D scanner reads the GTIN out of it.
The download is an SVG: a vector file your designer can scale without losing sharpness. It includes the white margin of four modules that scanners need.
Before you print
Your website has to answer the address in the code, for example by sending it to the product page. Test it with your phone first.
Use a GTIN that is registered to your company with your GS1 organisation.
Keep your EAN-13 on the pack, within 50 mm of the QR code, as GS1 advises during the transition.
Check the print size with the QR code size checker.
A GS1 QR code without building anything
Backlabel answers the code for you: the e-label in the shopper’s language, recalls per lot, and the code keeps working if you cancel.
